The Tzofim visit us from Israel

On Tuesday, May 31st, a little bit of Israel came to B'nai Torah. The Tzofim Israel Scout Friendship Caravan paid a visit, with their unique blend of song, dance, scouting, and goodwill, to show us Israel, yesterday and today. Caravan Pisgah is made up of 10 high school seniors, 5 boys and 5 girls, along with two leaders; the caravan is one of 4 that will be spending the summer of 2011 traveling across the USA, bringing their message of friendship to synagogues, senior residences, schools and camps, touching the lives of over 100,000 people.

The Caravan performed for over 1-1/2 hours, singing, dancing, telling stories, as the Tzofim are the perfect goodwill ambassadors. Proudly representing the State of Israel, it was a pleasure to have them visit us. Over 100 people attended the show, including congregants and guests, many scouts from the area, all had a wonderful time. The show was kicked off with a welcome prayer for the welfare of the State of Israel, led by Rabbi Colin, and the ending was capped by everyone joining for a warm, moving rendition of Hatikvah, the Israeli National Anthem.

The evening included dinner for the Tzofim and the families hosting them for the night, and a dessert with the sponsors of the event. Thanks to Abel Caterers who provided the dinner and dessert! Wednesday morning, the Tzofim said goodbye to their hosts, and after a short pool party, departed towards the next stop on their summer journey.
