(DAY 9) Traveling North

Leaving for the North today -- Starting with a big Breakfast as usual --

Richard says "What's there not to like about this place?"

The Inbal Hotel as we wave bye-bye

We start our trip North by making one last morning stop in Jerusalem, for morning services at the walls of the city.

On the right, high up against the Western Wall, you can see the start of what used to be an arch.  It used to go over the walkway below and down to the rock formation on the other side - where Debbie is standing (in her purple coat!)
Robinson's arch (the arch part is collapsed)
The rock debris in the distance used to be blocking the way, but it is being excavated.

That's where it used to be...
Can someone turn off the wind?
Shacharit service in the cold

Next we went on to the Hecht Museum for a brief stop.  We only had a short time here, but there was a lot to see...  Need to plan more time on a future trip :)

Phillistine tombs

The Canaanites were the "People of Purple" -
Debbie must be a direct decendant from them

Next we stopped in at the Technion University.  It is like MIT here - a center for study of high technology.
Speech at the Technion Institute
We had an instructor demonstrate what he was currently working on by giving us a talk about his work in Marine Biology.  He is studying ways to make it easier to detect and identify the type of microbiology present in water samples.
View from the window of the Technion
Next we overlooked the city of Haifa from the Bahamian Gardens.  What a view this was.

The Gardens occupy a cliffside, so these picture are taken looking down the cliff.  We did not walk down to see all the gardens...  because then we'd have to walk up too...

Yosi talked to us about Bahamians, how the gardens are maintained, outer beauty/inner beauty, and told us about other gardens like this that are maintained elsewhere as well.
Overlooking the Bahamian Gardens

As we leave the Bahamian Gardens, heading to our destination in the North -- K'far Blum Kibbutz...
